Streaks of Blue: How the Angels of Newtown Inspired One Girl to Save Her SchoolWith the recent school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, Jack Chaucer writes about a young girl named, Nicole, who has a vision that her school will be the next in a massive school shooting. She befriends, Adam Upton, a kid in her grade who a lot of students and teachers alike have given up hope that he’ll do anything good in life.
The Streaks of Blue is a fantastic read centered on Nicole’s journey to befriend Adam before he gets the chance to help an attack on the entire school. Being a wonderfully touching and hosting well developed character, The Streaks of Blue is a fantastic read for people of all ages.
Nicole, Adam, Candace, and Lee are all well written and interesting to watch throughout the novel. They all have traits that make them both lovable and hate able. Nicole is a strong heroine to this story proving that she’s both a leader and a strong woman. Instead of women in most novels where the heroine is portrayed as being weak and dependent on men, Nicole strays away from this cliché and proves she can be stronger—in some cases stronger—than males.
The story is even better with a plot that’ll keep you on guard and interested to the climax. You won’t be able to put this book down, as I finished this novel in two hours. The plot reels you in with it’s strong characters.
The message behind this book is to stand up behind bullying, and making sure kids feel safe as they go to school. This message stands out in this novel encourages people to stand up and not let bullying happen underneath their nose.
You won’t be disappointed in reading this novel and I recommend this to readers of all ages if you’re the slightly interested or you just randomly stumbled upon this novel. You won’t be disappointed. (Barnes and Noble, Amazon)
